Angul: The Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC), through its Gramya Vikas Trust (GMDC-GVT), has dedicated six significant community projects to the panchayats of Chhendipada and Machhkuta in the Angul district. These projects, with a cumulative cost of approximately Rs 30 lakhs, aim to enhance the quality of life for local residents.
The initiatives include the renovation of temples, improvement of playgrounds, and the construction of community halls. Each project was designed with the goal of enriching the social and recreational environment of the communities.
Among the key completions, the Majhi Sahi Community Hall in Machhkuta panchayat stands out. The inauguration ceremony, attended by notable figures such as Block Chairman Sumitra Sahu, GMDC Baitarani West Coal Mine Project Head Brigadier Manu Mehrotra, District Council Member Yashwant Prasad Behera, Committee Member Sumant Behera, and Podapada Village President Gopabandhu Gadanayak, marked the enhancement of the cricket field in Podapada village along with the community hall.
The event saw participation from youth leader Akshaypad Behera of Chhendipada, BNB Project Manager Romanchal Khamari, Community Manager Head Rashmi Ranjan Satapathy, local leaders, and a large number of residents, reflecting the community’s enthusiasm and support.
Further projects include the renovation of the Machhukuta Shiva Temple, the Rugudi Sahi Community Hall, and the Civil Court Chhendipada Conference Hall in Chhendipada Panchayat. These efforts by GMDC, alongside the involvement of BNB employees, were widely celebrated by the local populace, marking a significant step towards community development and engagement.
